　　影片的故事发生在波士顿，巴恩斯扮演的尼克是一位意大利裔的美国年轻人，踌躇满志的他加入波士顿黑手党，决心开创一番事业，却发现这个犯罪组织早已不复昔日之勇。　　于是尼克背着他的老板（《落水狗》、《坏中尉》男星哈威·凯特尔饰），自立门户，扩张版图，希望重塑往昔的辉煌。一手金钱，一手美人（莉顿·梅斯特饰），尼克完全不知道自己正走在危险的悬崖边。
