Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble. 洪金宝,钟镇涛,王祖贤,梁珊,曹查理,陈友在一家珠宝贸易公司工作的肥丁（洪金宝）因是胖仔外加做人老实，常被老板娘周太（梁珊）和其弟（曹查理）骑在头上，重活脏活全要揽下不说，工作稍微出点错就会被骂得狗血淋头。一日，他和在货运部工作的同事阿B（钟镇涛）一起按老板吩咐送钻石给中东酋长，之后将所收钱款送往银行的途中遭劫，周太和其弟不问青红诬告两人与劫匪是同伙。 越想越来气的肥丁决定绑架周太以泄压抑已久的怒火。在他准备行动之时，周家刚从美国归来的女儿祖儿（王祖贤）正同后母周太发生激烈的争吵，结果阴差阳错祖儿被他绑架，之后又被阿B绑至家中。肥丁在阿B的逼迫下无奈向周家索要赎金，一时笑料百出。
